According to the Chicago Tribune’s John Kass, we shouldn’t be concerned about the possibility that his state is being run by a crazy person, “Don't be alarmed when Chicago machine politicians act like raving lunatics. It's when they're quiet and reasonable that you've got to worry.”
Tribune columnist Eric Zorn thinks it should be the start of a new Fitzmas holiday— to celebrate the moment Chicago politicians finally had to clean up the corrupt politics that is their norm.
“Tuesday was a great day in Illinois, a thrilling day, an exciting, hopeful day; one of the few happy days we've had lately,” writes Zorn in this morning’s Tribune blog.
Come to think of it, if Zorn can enjoy getting up in the morning to relish the demise of a venal leader in his home state, even as the newspaper he writes for files for bankruptcy, can’t we all find something to get fired up about?
