Here’s an outsourcing story I missed over the holiday weekend:
The armed forces, already struggling to meet recruiting
goals, are considering expanding the number of
noncitizens in the ranks -- including disputed proposals
to open recruiting stations overseas and putting more
immigrants on a faster track to US citizenship if they
volunteer.

This war in Iraq is so unpopular that even as the White House insists it will prevail, the Pentagon knows there’s no way to expand the all-volunteer armed forces without chicanery. So why not outsource the armed services themselves? Perhaps we could even hire the army of some relatively impoverished countries to fight the war completely and send our troops home. That would complete the political isolation of the war from the American public.
