Follow the Presidential Money-Part 2

More about tracking Presidential campaign $$$:

Check out Fundrace at the Huffington Post for donor info and CNN Politics.com-Money site as additional sources beyond the Center for Responsive Politics’ Open Secrets site, Race for the White House.

Each site features its own specialty.

The Fundrace site allows readers to drill down to find specific donors and see how they are spreading their cash around. Some play more than one horse in the never-ending race for influence. Some industries are backing a candidate who can do something for them (see Financial Services in particular) and some are funding others as a bulwark against legislative changes (see Financial Services again).

CNN Politics.com’s Money (one for Dems and one for Reps) site provides a good overall picture of funds raised and cash-on-hand, as well as a state-by-state picture of the geography of finance for each candidate.

OpenSecrets.org is quite robust. It allows readers to find out how much of a candidate’s cash is coming from particular industries, what giving level of donor contribution is a larger percentage of the candidate’s take (see Clinton’s reliance on huge contributors vs Obama’s netroots), and will also allow for individual drilldowns. It also breaks down donations by quarter chonologically.

Happy hunting!

nobody is talking about how to bail out gm and ford the two largest automakers in the us. everyone is talking about iraq and the economy and other issues when ford and gm are facing and will probably file for bankruptcy soon and will eventually dissappear from the american or international economy completely.
